Medically sound diet and exercise programs are very important and can be considered a necessary start, but it is not enough.  You must also address any hormonal deficiencies that underline almost all problems of excess weight.  These hormones include:  Human Growth Hormone (HGH), Thyroid, Adrenal Hormones, Testosterone and Estrogen.   Any diet that does not take hormone modulation into account will not provide lasting results.  The problem with most diets or surgery is that you lose both fat and muscle when you lose weight.  Muscle is the most active lean tissue and burns calories much faster than fat tissue, so it’s the last thing you want to lose in a weight-loss program.  The idea is to be lean – that is, muscular – not just thin.  While your hormones are unbalanced, your metabolism is very slow.  Without adequate muscle mass, any dieter is doomed to failure.

Overweight patients most frequently experience severe deficiencies in protein, iron, vitamin B12, vitamin C and vitamin D.  These deficiencies become even worse after bariatric surgery.  Therefore finding a protein supplement that is formulated to specifically address these deficiencies is essential to losing weight and staying healthy.  In addition to protein supplementation, our Physicians will typically prescribe intravenous micronutrient protocols to correct severe nutrient deficiencies in our weight-loss patients.
