Aging is a natural phenomenon that shows its signs just after the peak reproductive period of our lives, somewhere between 25-35 years of age. In both men and women, we see a decline or imbalance in Testosterone, Estrogen, Human Growth Hormone (HGH), Thyroid Hormone and others. The fact is, with age, the human body tends to “get soft.” It loses muscle mass and luster. You build up FAT and everything SAGS. Whether you’ve always been heavy or weight fighting is a new concept for you, unless you take actions, the numbers on the scale are going to creep up even faster than the number of candles you put on your birthday cake. After 35-40 years old, weight gain seems to happen despite the attention we pay to what we eat and the time we devote to exercise. Fighting weight off becomes more and more difficult. Even if you are lucky enough to keep your weight stable, the loss of muscle mass means you won’t look as trim as you did before.
Next week we will discuss why a diet that doesn’t take hormone modulation into account will not provide lasting results.
